The Indian subcontinent is a big, beautiful part of Asia below the tall Himalayas mountains. It stretches out into the Indian Ocean, with the Bay of Bengal on one side and the Arabian Sea on the other.

Today, this wonderful land includes countries like Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan. It is a place full of colorful cultures, many languages, and a very rich history that people all over the world learn about.

Long, long ago, the Indian subcontinent was once part of an even bigger land called Gondwana. Slowly, it moved north and bumped into another land called Eurasia. This bump created the amazing Himalayas mountains and shaped the land we see today.

People often use the words Indian subcontinent and South Asia to talk about this area, but they mean slightly different things. South Asia is a name for countries close together, and it can include places like Bhutan, the Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. This whole area is a special and important part of our world.
