Ancient Pella

Ancient Greek Pella was once the capital of the kingdom of Macedon. It was a special city that began around the 4th century BC. Today, you can find the ruins just outside the town of Pella in Greece.

Two very important leaders were born in Pella: Philip II and his son, Alexander the Great. Imagine living in a city where such famous people grew up! Pella was a busy, rich place with many buildings and beautiful art.

People have been digging at Pella for many years. They have found amazing things like old tombs, paintings, and even a special tablet made of lead. This tablet has writing that helps us learn about the ancient language spoken there.

Pella was designed with straight streets crossing each other, making it easy to walk around. It even had early systems for clean water and keeping things tidy. Today, visitors can see parts of old Pella and learn about its exciting history.
