Western Europe
Western Europe is the part of Europe that lies to the west. It is made up of many countries, each with its own special ways and stories.
The countries in Western Europe include Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, and Switzerland. Some lists also include places like Ireland, United Kingdom, Andorra, Portugal, and Spain.
Western Europe has many big cities. London is the capital of the United Kingdom. Paris is the capital of France. Amsterdam is where the government of the Netherlands works, even though the capital city is Amsterdam.
The weather in Western Europe changes a lot. Places near the sea, like parts of Spain and Portugal, have warm, dry weather. Mountains like the Alps have cold weather. Other areas have rainy, mild weather because of warm ocean currents.
People in Western Europe speak many languages. French is spoken in France and Belgium. German is spoken in Germany and Luxembourg. Dutch is spoken in the Netherlands. There are also languages like Irish and Basque, which are special and unique.
Western Europe is very important in the world. Many ideas, inventions, and ways of living started here and spread everywhere. The people and places of Western Europe have shaped history in many wonderful ways.
