The Cayman Islands has been part of the Pan American Games since 1987. This means that athletes from the Cayman Islands have joined in every Pan American Games since then. The Pan American Games is a big sports event where countries from North, South, and Central America come together to compete in many different sports.

The Cayman Islands did not take part in the only Pan American Winter Games, which happened in 1990. This was a special version of the games focused on winter sports, but the Cayman Islands chose not to join that particular event. Since then, the Cayman Islands has continued to send athletes to each regular Pan American Games.

Taking part in these games allows athletes from the Cayman Islands to compete against other athletes from across the Americas, showing their skills and representing their home. It is a chance for them to gain experience, make friends, and maybe even qualify for bigger international competitions.
