Lesotho at the 2016 Summer Olympics

Adapted from Wikipedia · Discoverer experience

Lesotho competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from August 5 to August 21, 2016. This was the country's eleventh time taking part in the Summer Olympics, except for the 1976 Summer Olympics when it joined an African boycott.

Lesotho sent its largest team ever to the Games since 1996 Summer Olympics. Eight athletes, seven men and one woman, took part in three sports: athletics, boxing, and mountain biking. Mountain biking was a new sport for Lesotho at the Olympics.

The team was led by track sprinter Mosito Lehata, who had also competed in London 2012. He carried Lesotho’s flag during the opening ceremony. Even though Lesotho has taken part in many Olympics, it has not yet won its first Olympic medal.
