Adapted from Wikipedia · Discoverer experience

The cycling competitions of the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro took place at four different venues between August 6 and August 21. These venues included Fort Copacabana for road races, Pontal for time trials, the Rio Olympic Velodrome for track cycling, and centers for BMX and mountain biking.

Cycling has been a part of every Summer Olympics since the very first modern games in 1896. Over the years, the sport has grown to include many different events for both men and women, such as mountain biking and BMX.

In 2013, there were talks about adding new events to the Olympic cycling program, but these changes were not made. The 2016 Olympic cycling events were the same as those in the cycling at the 2012 Olympics. This meant fans could enjoy a mix of traditional and modern cycling competitions.
