A warehouse district is a special area in many cities where many warehouses are or used to be located. Warehouses are big buildings where goods are stored before they are sold or shipped somewhere. These districts are often found in industrial parks, places set aside for businesses that need lots of space and easy ways to move things, like highways, railroads, and airports.

Cities usually plan these areas carefully, sometimes making them special zones for urban planning. They often have their own roads, utilities, and energy systems to help businesses run smoothly.

Sometimes, when a warehouse district is no longer needed for storing goods, cities change it into something new, like an art district. Even after the change, people might still call the area a warehouse district because of its history.

Canada

The Distillery District is in Toronto, Ontario. It has the most Victorian-era industrial buildings in North America. There is also a Warehouse District in Edmonton.
