The opening ceremony of the 2022 Winter Olympics happened at the Beijing National Stadium in China on February 4, 2022. This special event welcomed athletes from many countries who came to compete in fun winter sports like skiing and ice skating.

Famous director Zhang Yimou led the ceremony. He also directed the ceremonies for the 2008 Summer Olympics. The show shared stories about China’s winter traditions and its modern days.

One cool part of the ceremony was the world’s largest LED screen. It covered a huge area and showed beautiful pictures with 40,000 LED lights.

Important people from many places around the world watched the ceremony. Leaders from countries like Japan, France, and South Korea were there, along with people from the International Olympic Committee and the United Nations.

The ceremony ended with happy music, colorful lights, and a big celebration as the Olympic flame was lit. It was a wonderful way to start the Winter Games!
