Azad Kashmir
Azad Kashmir is a beautiful area in the northern part of Pakistan. It is next to another part of Kashmir that is controlled by India. The two areas are separated by a special line called the Line of Control. To the north, Azad Kashmir touches Gilgit–Baltistan, and to the south and west, it is close to the Pakistani provinces of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Life in Azad Kashmir
More than 4 million people live in Azad Kashmir, which covers about 13,297 square kilometers. The capital city is Muzaffarabad. The area has its own leaders, including a President and a Prime Minister, and it also has a Legislative Assembly to help run things. Even though it has its own leaders, it still has some ties to the government of Pakistan.
Nature and Weather
Azad Kashmir is full of tall mountains, including parts of the Himalayas. It has beautiful valleys like the Neelum Valley. The weather changes a lot. In the south, summers are very hot, while winters are cool. In the central and northern areas, summers are warm, and winters can be cold with snow sometimes. Many places get a lot of rain, especially around Muzaffarabad.
Work and Play
People in Azad Kashmir mainly work in farming, and they grow crops like wheat and corn. Many also work in services and tourism. The area is famous for its scenic spots, such as lakes and mountains, which attract visitors. Children in Azad Kashmir go to school at a high rate, and many can read and write.
Fun and Sports
Sports like football, cricket, and volleyball are very popular. Azad Kashmir even has its own T20 cricket tournament called the Kashmir Premier League. Young players often get to play in stadiums like the Quaid-e-Azam Stadium in New Mirpur City. The area also has many football clubs that people enjoy watching.
