What Is Badminton?

Badminton is a fun game where players use racquets to hit a shuttlecock over a net. You can play with one friend (singles) or with two friends on each side (doubles). People love to play badminton in yards or on the beach, but big matches happen indoors. The goal is to hit the shuttlecock so it lands in the other player’s area.

The shuttlecock is special. It can be made from feathers or plastic, and it flies differently from balls because its feathers slow it down quickly. This makes badminton a fast and exciting game!

Where Did Badminton Start?

Badminton began a long time ago in British India from an older game called battledore and shuttlecock. Today, it is very popular in Asia, especially in countries like China, Denmark, and Indonesia. In 1992, badminton became an official sport in the Summer Olympic Games.
