Welcome to Basel-Stadt!

Basel-Stadt is a tiny but busy part of Switzerland. It is also called Basel-City. This small area has many people living there, even though it is not very big. The main city here is Basel, which sits on both sides of the Rhine River.

A Special Spot

Basel-Stadt is very special because it touches three countries! To the north, it meets France and Germany. To the south, it shares a border with another Swiss area called Basel-Landschaft. This makes Basel-Stadt a fun place where different cultures come together.

Three Friendly Towns

Basel-Stadt has three towns that work together. The biggest is Basel, of course. The other two are Bettingen and Riehen. Even though they are small, they help make Basel-Stadt a lively place to live and visit.

Fun Things to Do

Basel is full of exciting things to see and do! Every year, the city holds a big Carnival of Basel with parades, music, and lots of fun. People also love to try special treats like the Basler Läckerli, a yummy honey and almond biscuit.

The city has beautiful places to visit, like old buildings and art shows. One famous event is Art Basel, where people from all over the world come to see amazing artwork. Basel is also known for its clocks and jewelry at the BaselWorld fair.

Travel and Explore

Traveling to and around Basel is easy! The city has a train station that connects to places like Paris and Berlin. There is also an airport nearby, even though it is in France. Boats can travel up and down the Rhine River, making Basel a key place for trade and travel in Europe.
