Cardiology is the study of the heart. It looks at how the heart works and how to keep it healthy. People who work in cardiology are called cardiologists. They help find and treat many heart problems.

The heart is very important because it pumps blood to all parts of your body. It sends blood to the lungs to get oxygen and then pumps it back out. Cardiologists study the heart and the blood vessels that carry blood.

There are different kinds of heart doctors. Some focus on helping children with heart problems. These doctors are called pediatric cardiologists. Others help adults. Some doctors can do surgeries on the heart. These are called cardiothoracic surgeons.

Doctors who study cardiology learn a lot about the heart. They learn for many years after medical school. In some places, it takes three years of training after medical school in internal medicine, followed by three more years in cardiology.

Cardiologists do many tests to see how the heart is working. They might listen to the heart with a special tool or do pictures to see the heart. They also talk to people to learn about their health.

The heart can sometimes have problems. Cardiologists help find these problems and treat them. Learning about the heart helps doctors keep people healthy.
