The Caribbean Sea
The Caribbean Sea is a beautiful blue sea near many sunny islands. It is part of the big North Atlantic Ocean and sits in the warm tropics. All around it are wonderful islands and lands, like Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Trinidad and Tobago.
The Caribbean Sea is one of the largest seas in the world. It covers a huge area and has deep parts that go way down below the water. One amazing part of the Caribbean Sea is the world's second-largest barrier reef. This reef is full of colorful fish and sea creatures.
Long ago, the name "Caribbean" came from the Carib people who lived there. After Christopher Columbus arrived in The Bahamas in 1492, Europeans began exploring and settling the islands. Today, the Caribbean Sea is a busy place for trade, travel, and fun activities like scuba diving and snorkeling.
The Caribbean Sea has a warm, tropical climate. It is close to the equator, so the weather is usually sunny and warm. Many people visit the Caribbean each year to enjoy its beautiful beaches, clear water, and friendly islands. The sea is also important for fishing and making delicious rum.
