What is Christianity?
Christianity is a very big and old way of believing that many people around the world follow. It is the biggest religion in the world, with billions of followers. Christians believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that he came to help people. They read stories about Jesus in special books called the Old Testament and the New Testament.
Where Did It Start?
Christianity began a long time ago, in the first century, after Jesus passed away. It started in a place called Judaea, which is near Jerusalem. At first, it was a small group, but it grew and spread to many places, like the Eastern Mediterranean and later all over the world.
Different Kinds of Christians
Today, Christianity has three main groups: Catholicism, Protestantism, and Eastern Orthodoxy. Each group has its own ways of doing things, but they all believe that Jesus is very important and that he rose from the dead. These groups have made a big impact on places like Western civilization, especially in Europe.
Why Do People Know About It?
People know about Christianity because it has shaped many parts of the world. It has influenced art, music, and even the way many countries are run. Many important buildings, like churches and schools, were started by Christians. The Bible, the special book Christians read, has been very important in teaching people for many years.
Christianity continues to grow, especially in places like Africa and Asia, where more and more people are learning about it.
