Comic Books

Comic books are fun books that tell stories with pictures. These pictures are called panels, and they show what happens in the story, one after the other. The words in word balloons tell us what the characters are saying.

People have loved comic books for a long time. One of the first comic books was called Ally Sloper's Half Holiday, which started in 1884 in Britain. In the United States, the first modern comic book was Famous Funnies: A Carnival of Comics in 1933. It had stories that were first shown in newspapers.

Today, comic books are very popular all around the world. In Japan, comic books are called manga. They come in many different styles and stories. Big companies like DC Comics and Marvel Comics make famous superhero comics with characters like Superman and Spider-Man.

Comic books can be found in many places. You can see them in museums, like in this picture from a museum showing how comic books looked long ago. Libraries also have special sections for comic books, so everyone can enjoy them.

Comic books are a wonderful way to tell stories using both pictures and words. They bring fun and imagination to readers everywhere.
