Welcome to Eswatini!

Eswatini, also called eSwatini, is a small and special country in Southern Africa. It is surrounded by South Africa except for a tiny border with Mozambique. Imagine a puzzle piece that fits snugly between two big friends!

Eswatini has many beautiful landscapes. You can find cool mountains, green valleys, and hot, dry plains. The main city is Mbabane, where people go about their daily lives. Another important place is Lobamba, where the government meets.

The people of Eswatini are mainly ethnic Swazis. They speak a lovely language called siSwati. Long ago, their kingdom was started in the 1700s by a leader named Ngwane III. In 2018, the country changed its name from Swaziland to Eswatini, meaning “land of the Swazis.”

Eswatini is a developing country with an economy that loves farming and making goods. It trades mostly with South Africa, the United States, and the European Union. The country is ruled as an absolute monarchy, with King Mswati III leading since 1986.

Did you know Eswatini has special places to protect nature? Areas like Malolotja Nature Reserve and Hlane Royal National Park are home to birds, mammals, and other wildlife. These parks help keep animals and plants safe for everyone to enjoy.

Eswatini also has colorful traditions. One big event is the Umhlanga Reed Dance, where young girls cut reeds and dance for the Queen Mother. This helps bring people together and shows respect. The country is also known for its handmade crafts, like beautiful decorations and artwork made from glass, stone, and wood.

Eswatini is a wonderful place with friendly people, rich traditions, and beautiful landscapes waiting to be explored!
