The Swazi People

The Swazi people are a special group who live mainly in Eswatini, a country in Southern Africa. Some also live in South Africa. They speak a beautiful language called a Nguni-language.

Long ago, the Swazi people moved to the land around the 15th century. They are named after a king called Mswati II. Today, they are led by two important leaders: the king, called Ingwenyama, which means "the Lion," and the queen mother, called Indlovukati, which means "the She-Elephant."

Swazi culture loves music and dancing. Two big celebrations are Umhlanga and Incwala. Umhlanga is a special dance for young women to honor the queen mother. Incwala is a ceremony for the first fruits of the harvest.

Many Swazi people believe in a supreme God called Mvelincanti and also honor their ancestors. Some also practice Christianity. The Swazi people have a rich history and strong traditions that bring them together.
