What is Eurasia?
Eurasia is a very big land that includes all of Europe and Asia. It is the largest land area on our planet! Some people think of Eurasia as one huge continent because it all looks like one big piece of land.
Long ago, people thought Europe and Asia were separate lands. But the line between them can change depending on history and culture.
Where is Eurasia?
Eurasia stretches from Iceland in the far west all the way to the Russian Far East in the east. It reaches up to the Arctic Ocean in the north and down to Maritime Southeast Asia in the south. It is bordered by Africa to the southwest, the Atlantic Ocean to the west, the Arctic Ocean to the north, the Pacific Ocean to the east, and the Indo-Mediterranean to the south.
Eurasia is home to many people and has many different climates and landscapes. It includes famous places like the Arabian Peninsula, Korean Peninsula, and the Italian Peninsula.
Why Do We Know About Eurasia?
Eurasia has been home to many ancient civilizations, such as those in Mesopotamia, Egypt, the Indus Valley, and China. It played an important role in world history for thousands of years.
Today, Eurasia is very important because many countries and groups work together there. For example, the Eurasian Economic Union helps countries like Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan trade and cooperate more easily.
Eurasia connects to Africa at the Suez Canal. Together, they form the largest connected land area on our planet, called Afro-Eurasia.
