What is Firefox?
Firefox is a free web browser made by the Mozilla Foundation. It helps you look at websites, watch videos, and do many things online. You can use Firefox on many kinds of computers, like Windows, macOS, and Linux systems. There are also versions for mobile devices like Android and iOS.
Why Do People Use Firefox?
Firefox started in 2002 as a project to make a faster and safer web browser. It became very popular when it was released in 2004 because it had useful features like blocking pop-up ads and letting users open many pages at once in tabs. Firefox keeps changing to bring new technology, making web browsing faster and easier for everyone.
Helpful Features
Firefox has many helpful tools. You can open many pages at once with tabbed browsing[/w/8]. It includes spell checking[/w/9] to help catch spelling mistakes. With private browsing[/w/10], your history stays secret. Firefox also has a download manager[/w/11] to keep track of files you download. You can easily take screenshots of web pages. Firefox supports many web standards[/w/12], so websites look right. You can add extra features using extensions[/w/13] made by other people.
Fun Fact
Firefox’s name comes from a nickname for the red panda. The Firefox icon shows a stylized fox, even though “firefox” usually refers to a red panda.
