Gaborone

Gaborone is the capital city of Botswana. It is home to many people and is a busy, growing city. Gaborone is found between Kgale Hill and Oodi Hill, close to where the Notwane River and Segoditshane River meet. It is just 15 kilometres from the border with South Africa.

The city was named after Chief Gaborone of the Tlokwa people. It became the capital in the mid-1960s when Botswana became independent. The city has a main area called "Main Mall" with many shops and a semi-circular area with government offices.

Gaborone is important as the political and economic center of Botswana. It is home to the Botswana Stock Exchange and the headquarters of the Southern African Development Community. People in the city mainly speak Setswana, English, Kalanga, and Kgalagadi.

Gaborone is a fun place to visit. It has many parks and places to see, like the Gaborone Game Reserve where you can see animals. The city also has museums and festivals that show the culture of Botswana.

Gaborone is a special place because it is the heart of Botswana. It has many buildings, schools, and places for people to work and live. The city is growing fast, and many people move there for jobs and a better life.

Gaborone has friendly connections with cities around the world, like Burbank in the United States. This means the two cities work together and share ideas to help each other.
