The Gulf of Mannar is a beautiful, shallow bay in the Indian Ocean. It is found between the southeastern tip of India and the west coast of Sri Lanka.

The water in the Gulf of Mannar is not very deep. It is home to many interesting sea animals, like dolphins, sea turtles, and the dugong, also called a sea cow. This area is very special for its plants and animals, so it has been made a Biosphere Reserve.

People have collected pearls in the Gulf of Mannar for over 2,000 years! The area also has important ports like Thoothukudi in India and Colombo in Sri Lanka. The Gulf of Mannar is a wonderful place for nature lovers to learn about the ocean and its creatures.
