Ice Hockey
Ice hockey is a fun and exciting team sport played on ice. Players wear special skates and use sticks to move a small rubber disc called a puck. The goal is to shoot the puck into the other team’s net to score points. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins!
Ice hockey is most popular in Canada, where it all began. The first indoor game was played there in 1875. Today, it is enjoyed all around the world. Many people love to watch ice hockey games, especially during big events like the Winter Olympics.
Playing the Game
A game of ice hockey has two teams with six players each. Five players are skaters, and one is the goaltender, whose job is to protect the goal. The players work together to pass the puck and try to score goals. The game has three parts called periods, and each lasts twenty minutes. There are breaks in between the periods to rest.
Why People Love It
Ice hockey is exciting because of the fast skating and quick moves. It is also a great way to stay active and have fun with friends. In Canada, ice hockey is the official winter sport, and many children grow up playing it on frozen lakes or in local rinks.
