The Kingdom of Hungary

The Kingdom of Hungary was a special and important place in Central Europe from the year 1000 until 1946. It all started when a kind and wise man named Stephen I became the first king. Stephen loved his people and helped make Hungary strong and happy.

Hungary was home to many different people who spoke many languages and had many traditions. At its biggest, the Kingdom of Hungary reached into places that are now Slovakia, parts of Romania, Ukraine, Serbia, Austria, Slovenia, and Poland.

One of the most special days in Hungary is August 20, when people celebrate Stephen I’s feast day. It is a national holiday and everyone remembers how he helped start the nation.

Hungary had many wonderful cities. One early capital was Esztergom, where Stephen was crowned king. Later, beautiful cities like Buda and Pest grew into the wonderful city of Budapest that we know today.

Even though Hungary faced many changes over the years, it always stayed a special place full of friendly people, rich history, and beautiful lands. Today, Hungary remembers its past with pride and joy.
