Welcome to Romania!

Romania is a beautiful country in Europe. It sits near the Danube River and close to the Black Sea. Romania touches borders with Ukraine, Hungary, Serbia, Bulgaria, and Moldova. It is the twelfth-largest country in Europe by area and has about 19 million people living there.

A Land of History and Nature

Romania has a rich history. People have lived there for thousands of years! Long ago, the Dacians were important leaders. Later, the Romans came and helped build cities. Today, Romania is a modern country with a strong economy. It makes many things people use around the world, like car parts and computer programs. Romania is also part of groups like the European Union and NATO.

Amazing Places and Wildlife

Romania has stunning landscapes. The Carpathian Mountains run through the middle, with tall peaks perfect for hiking. The Danube River flows along the border and creates a huge delta filled with wildlife. This area is a wonderful home for birds, fish, and plants. Romania also has beautiful forests and many protected parks where animals like wolves and bears live.

Culture and Traditions

Romania's culture is vibrant and full of traditions. People love music, dancing, and celebrating special days. One big holiday is Great Union Day on December 1, when people remember when different parts of the country joined together. Romanian food is tasty too! Popular dishes include sour soups called ciorbă, small grilled meatballs named mititei, and mămăligă, a special cornmeal dish. Families often share meals and enjoy traditional drinks like strong plum brandy called țuică.

Fun and Games

Football (soccer) is the most popular sport in Romania. Many children play in local teams, and the national team has made the country proud in big tournaments. Other favorite sports include tennis, handball, gymnastics, and boxing. Romanian athletes have won many medals in the Olympics, especially in gymnastics, showing how strong and skilled they are.
