La Cañada Flintridge is a cozy city nestled in the foothills of the Verdugo Mountains. It sits in the beautiful Crescenta Valley, close to the edge of the San Gabriel Valley. This place is special because it brings together nature and science.
The city is home to important places like NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. This is where amazing space robots are built! There are also lovely gardens at the Descanso Gardens to explore.
Long ago, the Tongva people lived here. They enjoyed the oak trees for food and shelter. Later, in 1771, they moved to live at Mission San Gabriel Arcángel.
La Cañada Flintridge became a city on November 30, 1976, when two smaller places, La Cañada and Flintridge, joined together. Today, about 20,573 people live there. The city has mild winters and hot summers, with most rain falling in the winter months.
You can enjoy hiking trails, visit beautiful gardens, or explore shops at the La Cañada Town Center. Every year, the city helps make floats for the fun Pasadena Rose Parade.
