Welcome to Malawi!

Malawi is a beautiful country in Southeast Africa. It is surrounded by Zambia to the west, Tanzania to the north, and Mozambique to the east and south. Malawi is special because it has no oceans, but it has a huge lake called Lake Malawi that sparkles like a giant mirror.

A Land of Warm Hearts

People in Malawi are known as very friendly and kind. The country is often called the "Warm Heart of Africa" because of how welcoming everyone is. Long ago, many different groups lived here, like the Akafula and the Maravi. Today, most people speak Chichewa or English, and they enjoy sharing stories and traditions.

Nature’s Treasure

Malawi is full of wonderful animals and plants. You can find elephants, hippos, and many colorful birds in its forests and parks. Lake Malawi is famous for its many types of fish. People love to visit places like the Chongoni Rock Art Area, where old paintings tell stories from the past.

Everyday Life

Most people in Malawi live in villages and work on farms. They grow crops like tobacco, corn, and sugarcane. Children go to school, and many families enjoy simple but tasty meals like Nsima, made from cornmeal. Markets are busy places where people buy fruits, clothes, and handmade crafts.

Fun and Games

Sport is a big part of life in Malawi. Many children and adults love playing football. The country has teams like the Mighty Wanderers and Big Bullets that make everyone cheer. Other popular activities include basketball and netball, where teams work together to score points.

Celebrate with Music!

Music and dancing are important in Malawi. At parties and festivals, people play drums and other instruments while singing and moving to the rhythm. Traditional dances tell stories and bring communities together. Artists also make beautiful baskets, wood carvings, and paintings that show the colorful culture of the country.

Malawi may be small, but it is big on joy, nature, and friendship. Whether you are looking at the blue waters of Lake Malawi or listening to lively music, there is always something wonderful to discover!
