Lilongwe

Lilongwe is the capital city of Malawi. It is the largest city in the country and has grown a lot over the years. Lilongwe is in the central part of Malawi, close to the borders with Mozambique and Zambia.

The city is named after the Lilongwe River, which flows nearby. Lilongwe is an important place for business and travel in central Malawi. It has many government offices and public services, making it a busy city.

Lilongwe has a warm climate with mild winters. It rains from December to March, and the dry season is from April to August. The city has many places for homes, shops, and offices. Some areas have small houses, while others have tall buildings and businesses.

There are many schools and a university in Lilongwe. The University of Malawi began in 1964, and the city has many primary and secondary schools where students learn and grow.

Lilongwe also has places where people can play sports. The big Bingu National Stadium can hold 40,000 people and is used for football matches. Other sports like basketball, netball, and rugby are also popular in the city.

Lilongwe has special friendships with two cities around the world: Taipei in Taiwan and Lusaka in Zambia. These partnerships help the cities share ideas and support each other.
