Professional athletes can earn a lot of money, especially the top players. For example, some footballers like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are known around the world. Their salaries come from fans who buy tickets, sponsors who advertise, and television broadcasts of their games.
Sports have become more popular because of mass media and more free time for people to relax. This means more fans can watch and enjoy their favorite teams and players.
