Roman Josi
Roman Josi is a talented Swiss ice hockey player. He plays as a defenceman and is the captain for the Nashville Predators in the National Hockey League (NHL). Roman was born on 1 June 1990, in Bern, Switzerland.
Growing Up
Roman grew up in a family that loves sports. His mother was a swimmer on the national team, and his father played soccer. Roman played soccer and ice hockey when he was young but chose ice hockey when he was 10 years old. His father and older brother also played ice hockey. Roman likes the local soccer team, BSC Young Boys.
Playing Career
Roman started his hockey journey with the local SC Bern team from 2006 to 2010. In 2008, he was chosen by the Nashville Predators in the NHL draft. He joined the Predators for the 2010β11 season and has been an important player for them ever since.
In the 2019β20 season, Roman became the first Swiss player to win the James Norris Memorial Trophy as the league's best defenceman. He is known for his strong skills and leadership on the ice.
Helping Others
When the NHL stopped because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Roman helped people in Tennessee. He raised money for tornado relief in Nashville and gave money to a food bank to help those in need.
Roman has played many big ice hockey tournaments for Switzerland, starting when he was just 16 years old. He has helped his team win silver medals and has been named one of the best players in tournaments.
Roman is married to Ellie Ottaway, and they have a son and a daughter. He is loved by fans for his great play and kind heart.
