The Tiny Rusty-Spotted Cat

The rusty-spotted cat is one of the smallest wild cats in the world! It lives in India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. These tiny cats have short reddish-grey fur with rusty spots, making them look like they’ve been sprinkled with rust-colored paint.

These little cats love to live in forests, scrubby areas, and grasslands with thick plants and rocks. They are very quiet and mostly active at night, hiding in trees or caves during the day. In safe places, they can live up to twelve years.

People know about the rusty-spotted cat because it is very special and rare. Its home is disappearing because of farming, so many people work hard to protect these tiny cats and their forests. Some live in zoos, where they are well cared for.
