Same-Sex Marriage in Denmark

Denmark is a country in Europe that has been very kind and fair to everyone. In 2012, Denmark made a big change. They decided that two people who love each other, even if they are the same gender, can get married. This made many people very happy.

Denmark was one of the first countries to allow same-sex marriage. Before that, in 1989, Denmark started something new called "registered partnerships." This gave same-sex couples almost all the same rights as married couples. It was the first time anywhere in the world that this happened.

Same-sex marriage is also allowed in two special places that are part of Denmark: Greenland and the Faroe Islands. Greenland started allowing same-sex marriage in 2016, and the Faroe Islands followed in 2017.

Many people in Denmark believe that love is love, no matter who you love. Surveys show that most people in Denmark support same-sex marriage. This shows how kind and fair Denmark wants to be to all its people.
