Saturday

Saturday is the day of the week that comes after Friday and before Sunday. Long ago, people named this day after the planet Saturn. They thought Saturn had special powers for the first hour of the day.

Many languages have names for Saturday that come from old words. For example, in Dutch it is called zaterdag. In German it is called Samstag.

In many places, Saturday is a day of rest and fun. It is part of the weekend. People often relax, spend time with family, or go out to play.
