Stockton is a big, busy city in California. It is the largest city in San Joaquin County and the 11th-most populous city in the whole state!

A City with a Rich History

Stockton was started by a man named Charles Maria Weber in 1849, during the exciting California Gold Rush. It is named after Robert F. Stockton, a famous leader. The city has grown a lot over the years and has many interesting places to visit.

Fun Places to Explore

Stockton has many cool spots for families. You can visit the Haggin Museum to see art and learn about history. Another special place is the Gurdwara Sahib of Stockton, the first Sikh worship place in the United States.

You might also want to check out the University of the Pacific, which is California’s oldest university. It has been there since 1923 and has many fun things to see and do.

Sports and Entertainment

Stockton loves sports! The city has teams like the Stockton Kings basketball team and the Stockton Ports baseball team. You can watch them play and cheer them on!

There are also many places for music and shows. The Stockton Symphony is one of the oldest orchestras in California. The Bob Hope Theatre shows all kinds of performances, and the University of the Pacific has a concert hall too.

Stockton has many schools, including the University of the Pacific. Children can go to public schools like those in the Stockton Unified School District or private schools like Saint Mary's High School.

There are also many jobs in the city. Big companies like Amazon and Stockton Unified School District have offices and schools here.

Traveling Around

Stockton is easy to get to. You can drive on big roads like Interstate 5 and State Route 99. If you like trains, you can take Amtrak to visit. There is also an airport called the Stockton Metropolitan Airport for flying in and out.

Stockton is a wonderful city with lots to see and do. Whether you are interested in history, sports, or just having fun, you will find something you love in Stockton!
