The Tanimbar Islands

The Tanimbar Islands are a beautiful group of about 65 islands in Indonesia. They are part of the Maluku province. The biggest and most important island is called Yamdena. Other islands nearby are Selaru, Larat, and Fordata.

These islands are known for their lovely sea views and special culture. Many people live there, and they enjoy a peaceful life by the sea. The main town is Saumlaki, located on the southeast part of Yamdena Island. It is the center for government and daily life for the islanders.

The Tanimbar Islands sit between the Banda Sea and the Arafura Sea. They are part of a big area called the Banda Sea Islands moist deciduous forests ecoregion. This makes them a home for many interesting animals, like birds and special frogs.

People have known about these islands since the 1500s. Today, the Tanimbar Islands are a wonderful place to learn about nature and different cultures.
