Tibetan Empire

The Tibetan Empire was a big and important place a long time ago. It started in the 7th century on the Tibetan Plateau under a king named Songtsen Gampo. This king was from the Yarlung dynasty.

The empire grew very big. It reached from Chang'an in the east all the way past Afghanistan in the west. It also went down into India.

People know about the Tibetan Empire because of its history and culture. King Songtsen Gampo helped bring Buddhism to Tibet. He wanted Buddhist writings to be translated into Tibetan. Later, another king, Trisong Detsen, also helped Tibetan Buddhism grow. He worked with a wise teacher named Guru Padmasambhava.

The empire began to change in the 9th century after the death of King Tritsuk Detsen. It split into smaller parts, but it left a big mark on the history and culture of the area.

The Tibetan Empire was a special time for Tibet. It helped make Tibetan writing and religion grow strong. Many people still learn about this old empire today.
