Vedat Dalokay
Vedat Dalokay was a talented architect from Turkey. He was born in Elazığ in 1927 and grew up in an Alevi Kurdish family. Vedat studied architecture at the Istanbul Technical University and later went to Paris to learn more about city planning.
Vedat Dalokay became the mayor of Ankara in 1973. As mayor, he worked on making the city better with new transportation and homes that everyone could afford. He was also known for designing beautiful buildings.
One of his most famous designs is the Faisal Mosque in Islamabad, Pakistan. His creative ideas helped shape many places around the world. Vedat Dalokay passed away in a traffic accident in 1991, but his work continues to be remembered and admired.
