Ancient Egypt
Ancient Egypt was a special place along the Nile River in North Africa. It started around 3150 BC when two parts, called Upper and Lower Egypt, were united by a ruler named Menes. People there were very clever and built amazing things.
The Nile River was very important. Every year, the river would flood and leave rich soil. This helped people grow lots of food, like emmer and barley. They also grew vegetables and fruits, and raised animals like cattle and sheep.
Ancient Egyptians built wonderful structures, such as pyramids and temples. These buildings still stand today and people all over the world admire them. They also made a special way to write called hieroglyphs and created a system of mathematics that helped them solve problems.
Life in Ancient Egypt was different from today. Most people were farmers who lived in homes made of mudbrick. Children often went without clothes until they were about 12 years old. People liked music and dance, and they enjoyed games like senet and mehen.
Ancient Egyptians believed in many gods and had special ways to honor them. They thought about life after death and had detailed burial traditions. They preserved bodies through mummification and put goods in tombs for the afterlife.
Today, we still learn from Ancient Egypt. Their ideas about building, writing, and medicine inspired many other cultures. The ruins and artifacts they left behind help us understand our history better.
