All-time Pan American Games medal table

The Pan American Games are a big sports event where athletes from countries across North, South, and Central America compete against each other. The games happen every four years, and many different sports are included, just like in the Olympics. People keep track of who wins the most medals in these games.

Below is a table showing the total medals won by all countries from the first Pan American Games in 1951 up until the games in 2023. This table was made by adding up the medals from each separate games event, because the group that runs the Pan American Games, called Panam Sports, does not make an official all-time table themselves.

The medals are counted for each country using the same codes that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) uses today. Sometimes a country’s code changes over time, like when Trinidad and Tobago changed from TRT to TRI, but the medals are still added together for that country. Some country names have also changed, such as from British Honduras to Belize. The table includes medals won by teams that no longer exist today, shown in italic letters.

The most recent Pan American Games took place in 2023, starting on October 20 and ending on November 5. This all-time medal table gives us a fun way to see which countries have been the best at the Pan American Games over the years.

NOCs

The table shows the medals won by each country's Olympic Committee. You can sort it by the name of the country, the number of gold medals, or the total medals. Some teams, like the Netherlands Antilles and Independent Athletes Team at the 2023 Pan American Games, are shown in italics because they no longer exist as Olympic Committees.

Ranked medal table

The table shows the total medals won by countries in the Pan American Games from 1951 to 2023. The Pan American Sports Organization (PASO) does not create these all-time tables themselves; they only show tables for each individual Games. This table was made by adding up the results from each Games in the PASO database.
