Adapted from Wikipedia · Explorer experience
The Bailiwick of Guernsey is a special group of islands near the coast of France. These islands belong to the British Crown but are not part of the United Kingdom. The main islands are Guernsey, Alderney, Sark, and Herm, along with a few smaller ones.
These islands have a very long history. They were once part of the Duchy of Normandy. Even when Normandy and England were separated, the islands stayed linked to England. Today, the islands have their own government and make many of their own rules.
The Bailiwick of Guernsey has its own parliament called the States of Guernsey. The British monarch is the head of state, and a special representative called the Lieutenant Governor stands for the monarch on the islands. Each island also has its own small group of leaders to help make decisions.
People living in the Bailiwick of Guernsey enjoy a peaceful life on beautiful islands. They have their own traditions and ways of doing things, making this place special and unique.
