California State Route 91

California State Route 91, often called "the 91," is a big road in Southern California. It runs from east to west, starting near Gardena close to Interstate 110 and going all the way to Riverside. People in this area know it very well.

The road has different names along the way. From the Harbor Freeway to the Long Beach Freeway, it is called the Gardena Freeway. Then, between the Long Beach Freeway and the Santa Ana Freeway in Buena Park, it is named the Artesia Freeway. From the Santa Ana Freeway to its end at Riverside, it is called the Riverside Freeway.

The number 91 was chosen because it comes from an older road called U.S. Route 91. That old road used to go through places like the Inland Empire and all the way to Las Vegas and Salt Lake City. Today, that road is mostly replaced by I-15.

SR 91 is very important. It is part of the California Freeway and Expressway System and the National Highway System. This means it helps people and goods move across the country. It also has special lanes called the 91 Express Lanes. These lanes help make travel faster for many drivers.

The road has many exits and connects to other important roads, making it easy for people to get around Los Angeles County, Orange County, and Riverside County. It is one of the busiest roads in Southern California, helping many people get to work, school, and fun places every day.
