Charlotte FC
Charlotte FC is a fun soccer team from Charlotte, North Carolina. They play in a big league called Major League Soccer. The team joined this league in 2022, making them the 28th team to join.
The team is owned by David Tepper, who also owns another sports team called the Carolina Panthers. Charlotte FC plays their home games at Bank of America Stadium, which they share with the Panthers. This stadium is very big and can hold many fans.
Charlotte has loved soccer for many years. Before Charlotte FC, there were other teams like the Carolina Lightnin' and the Charlotte Eagles. People in Charlotte really wanted to join Major League Soccer for a long time. In 2019, Mr. Tepper decided to bring an MLS team to Charlotte. Because of something called the COVID-19 pandemic, the team couldn’t start until 2022.
When Charlotte FC played their first game, it was very exciting! The crowd was huge, and it was the biggest crowd in MLS history at that time. Even though they had some tough games, many fans loved watching them play.
Charlotte FC’s logo looks like a coin and has a crown, because Charlotte is called the “Queen City.” The team is sometimes called “The Crown.” Their jerseys are blue and white, showing the shapes of North Carolina and South Carolina.
Fans of Charlotte FC are very loyal and have special groups called “the Royal Family.” They sit together in a special part of the stadium and make the games very fun. Before each home game, a local celebrity is chosen as the “monarch” of the match. After a win, fans do a special dance called “the Poznań” to a song by Farruko.
Charlotte FC is making Charlotte a place where soccer is loved and enjoyed by everyone!
