Greta Thunberg
Greta Thunberg is a young woman from Sweden who cares very much about taking care of our planet. She was born on January 3, 2003, in Stockholm, the capital city of Sweden. Her mom is a famous opera singer named Malena Ernman, and her dad is an actor named Svante Thunberg.
When Greta was only eight years old, she learned about climate change. This made her very worried, and she decided to help make a change. She asked her family to live in ways that helped the Earth. For example, she became a vegan, meaning she doesn’t eat any animal food, and she stopped flying on airplanes to help the environment.
In 2018, when Greta was just 15, she started a special protest. Every Friday, she would skip school and stand outside the Swedish parliament to ask leaders to protect our planet. Her idea inspired students all over the world to do the same. This became a big movement called Fridays for Future.
Greta has spoken to many important leaders around the world about why we need to take care of our Earth. She believes that everyone, especially young people, should help make the world a better place. Because of her brave actions and strong voice, many people know her name. She was even chosen as one of Time magazine’s most influential people in the world!
Greta continues to speak up for our planet, reminding us all that even one person can make a big difference.
