Welcome to Queens
Queens is a big and exciting part of New York City. It is the largest area in New York City and has many people from all over the world. If Queens were its own city, it would be one of the biggest cities in the United States!
A Place for Everyone
Queens is special because people from many countries and cultures live there. Over half of the people speak a language other than English at home. You can hear many languages like Spanish, Chinese, and Bengali every day. This makes Queens a colorful and interesting place to visit or live.
Fun Places and Events
Queens has many fun places to explore. One of the biggest parks is Flushing Meadows–Corona Park, where you can play sports or visit exciting places like Citi Field. That’s where the New York Mets play baseball! Queens also holds the U.S. Open tennis tournament at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. There are also two big airports, John F. Kennedy International Airport and LaGuardia Airport, which help many travelers every year.
Famous Neighbors
Many famous people grew up or lived in Queens. Tony Bennett, a famous singer, lived there. Donald Trump, who became the President of the United States, was born in a hospital in Queens and grew up there. Queens is also a popular place in movies and TV shows. For example, the TV show The King of Queens is set in the borough.
Easy Ways to Get Around
Queens has many ways to travel around. You can take the New York City Subway, which has many stations. There are also buses, and you can even ride bikes with the Citi Bike program. The Long Island Rail Road trains stop in Queens too, making it easy to visit other places.
Queens is a wonderful place full of different cultures, fun activities, and famous history. Whether you’re visiting or living there, you’ll always find something new and exciting!
