Welcome to Turin!

Turin, also called Torino, is a big and beautiful city in Italy. It is in the north, near the Alps mountains. Turin is very important for business, culture, and history.

A City Full of History

Turin has a long and interesting history. Long ago, it was home to an ancient people called the Taurini. Later, the Romans built a town there named Augusta Taurinorum. For a short time, from 1861 to 1865, Turin was the first capital of the Kingdom of Italy. Many different groups ruled the city over the years, including the Lombards, Franks, and the Savoy family.

Cars and Culture

Turin is famous for its cars. Big car brands like Fiat, Lancia, and Alfa Romeo have their headquarters here. The city is also full of culture. You can find many art galleries, theaters, and museums. One famous building is the Mole Antonelliana, which now houses the National Museum of Cinema. Turin is also known for its universities and chocolate treats like gianduiotto.

Fun Places to Visit

Turin has many beautiful places to see. The city has lovely squares like Piazza San Carlo and Piazza Castello. You can visit the Royal Palace and other palaces, homes, and castles that were once part of the Savoy Residences, now a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The Egyptian Museum of Turin has a big collection of ancient Egyptian items, one of the largest outside of Egypt. The city also hosted the 2006 Winter Olympics, which was a big event for sports lovers.

A Sweet City

Turin is famous for its chocolate, especially a special type called gianduiotto. The city also enjoys a hot drink called bicerin, made with espresso, chocolate, and milk. Every year, Turin holds a big chocolate festival called CioccolaTò. You can also try tramezzini, a type of sandwich, and MoleCola, an Italian cola.

Turin is a wonderful city with a rich history, beautiful buildings, and lots of fun things to see and do!
