Kazakhstan first joined the Olympic Games as its own country in 1994 and has sent athletes to compete in every Games since that time. Before this, athletes from Kazakhstan were part of the Soviet Union team, and they also competed with the Unified Team in 1992.
The National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan was formed in 1990 and was officially recognized in 1993. This group helps organize and support Kazakh athletes who take part in the Olympic Games.
