Ski jumping has been a part of every Winter Olympic Games. It started back in 1924 and has evolved over the years. At first, athletes jumped from a single hill, and the length of these hills changed with each Olympics. Later, two types of hills were used: the normal hill at 70 meters and the large hill at 80 meters.

In 1988, a team event was added, allowing groups of athletes to compete together. By 1992, the hills were described by their K-point distances instead of their exact lengths. In 2014, women were included in the Olympics for the first time, with Carina Vogt from Germany winning the first gold medal. Ski jumping continues to be a thrilling and exciting event at the Winter Olympics.
