Welcome to East Java

East Java is a beautiful place in Indonesia, on the big island of Java. It is found on the eastern side of the island and has many exciting spots to see!

Where It Is

East Java touches Central Java to the west. The Java Sea is on its northern coast, and the Indian Ocean is on its southern coast. The Bali Strait separates it from the island of Bali. It also includes the island of Madura, connected by the Suramadu Bridge, and some smaller islands like the Kangean islands.

Big Cities and People

The capital of East Java is Surabaya, a big city full of factories and busy streets. Many people live here and in areas around Surabaya. East Java is the second most crowded place in Indonesia, with over 42 million people.

People in East Java come from many backgrounds, like the Javanese, Madurese, and Chinese groups. Most speak Indonesian, but many also speak Javanese or Madurese.

Nature and Fun Places

East Java has amazing nature! You can find mountains, beaches, caves, and waterfalls. Some famous spots are Ijen volcano in Banyuwangi, Baluran National Park in Situbondo, and Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. These places are perfect for adventures and seeing wild animals.

Tasty Foods

East Java is known for its delicious foods. Try Bakso Malang, a special soup with meatballs, or Rujak Cingur, a colorful salad from Surabaya. Each area has its own tasty dishes, like pecel madiun from Madiun and tahu pong from Kediri.

Learning and Growing

East Java has many schools and universities. Big cities like Surabaya and Malang have famous universities such as Airlangga University and Brawijaya University. There are also special Islamic schools called pesantren in places like Jombang and Ponorogo.

Fun Sports

East Java loves sports! It has many football teams, like Persik, Madura United, Arema, and Persebaya. People also enjoy basketball, volleyball, and bicycle races. The area even hosts big events like the Tour de East Java.

East Java is a wonderful place with lots to see, taste, and explore!
