Welcome to North Carolina!

North Carolina is a beautiful state in the southeastern part of the United States. It is bordered by Virginia to the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the east, South Carolina to the south, Georgia to the southwest, and Tennessee to the west. The state is known for its diverse landscapes, rich history, and many fun activities.

Natural Beauty

North Carolina has many different kinds of land. In the west, you can find the stunning Appalachian Mountains, where Mount Mitchell is the highest peak in the eastern United States. The mountains offer cool weather, beautiful forests, and many places to hike. In the east, the flat Atlantic coastal plain meets the ocean, creating lovely beaches and islands like the Outer Banks. These areas are perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and exploring nature.

History and First Flight

North Carolina has a long and interesting history. People have lived there for over 10,000 years! Many Native American tribes, such as the Cherokee, called this place home. In 1903, two brothers named Orville and Wilbur Wright made the very first airplane flight near Kitty Hawk. Because of this amazing achievement, North Carolina is known as "First in Flight."

Cities and Places to Visit

North Carolina has many lively cities and towns. Charlotte is the largest city and a hub for business and sports, home to teams like the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte Hornets. Raleigh, the state capital, is full of museums and parks. Another fun place is Asheville, nestled in the mountains, where you can visit the famous Biltmore Estate. The Blue Ridge Parkway and Great Smoky Mountains National Park are also wonderful spots for nature lovers.
