List of national capitals

This is a list of national capitals. It includes capitals of countries, territories, and places where sovereignty is not fully agreed upon. The capitals here are linked to areas recognized by the international standard ISO 3166-1, or those on the list of states with limited recognition.
Sovereign states and observer states that are members of the United Nations are shown in bold text. Learning about these capitals helps us know where important government decisions are made around the world. Each capital city is usually where a country’s main government buildings and leaders are found.
